Electrolyte Beverages – Harmful or Helpful?

While electrolyte beverages may be an easy option to increase one’s daily water intake, many commercial sports and “vitamin” based beverages can be high in sugar, sodium, artificial colors, and sweeteners which can contribute to weight gain, heart disease and metabolic syndrome like diabetes.  While staying hydrated is essential for healthy bodily function, blood sugar stabilization, and weight management, most water enhancers and electrolyte beverages can trigger inflammation in the body because of their unnatural synthetic ingredients and additives like excess sugar and salt.
